Sarcoma
摘要
Soft tissue sarcomas comprise a small number of neoplasms, however they are highly diverse, with a broad spectrum of malignant potential. They can occur in the extremities, retroperitoneum, abdomen, chest wall, or anywhere in the human body. Diagnosis with imaging includes plain films, CT, and MRI. Furthermore, diagnosis utilizing biopsy techniques including fine-needle aspiration, core-needle, incisional, and excisional biopsies are necessary to determine the histology and morphology of the pathology. The specific pathology, as well as grade and stage, also guides treatment modalities. Various operative and nonoperative treatments are available, depending on the aggressiveness of the sarcoma. Patient follow up is crucial, as these malignancies tend to have high local recurrence rates as well as distant hematogenous metastasis even with appropriate treatment.
