Capitalising Artificial Intelligence Capabilities to Foster Disruptive Events Anticipation and Proactive Resilience
摘要
Disruptive events keep happening, and the uncertainty about their consequences is growing. These events would affect many global supply chains since they have already proven to be fragile, so organisations within them need to be more resilient to face up to this turbulent context. The main objective of this work is to provide organisations with an easy-to-use tool to help them become more resilient by enhancing their anticipation capacity. One of the main constituent capacities of resilience is anticipation. In this work, this is assessed through a developed web tool that monitors keywords and phrases in international news sources, analyses the sentiment of each news item based on artificial intelligence, guides preventive actions through access to scientific publications, and offers the option to ask a smart chatbot about the manner to receive fast ideas. The guidance provided through this work, and more specifically, through the developed web tool, would strengthen the organisations’ anticipation capacity and enhance enterprise and supply chain resilience. Moreover, the main contribution of this work is to provide companies with a customising and straightforward anticipation and monitoring tool to help them be aware of and prepared for potential disruptive events. The findings of this work are validated by eleven managers from different companies. All of them agree that the developed web tool is easy to implement and that it will help their organisations to increase resilience. To the best of our knowledge, the specific combination of artificial intelligence techniques applied in this work has not been published before, giving this research a novel approach to sentiment analysis and decision-making.
