Perceptual Metaphors as Cognitive Resources
摘要
This chapter deals with the commonplace perceptual metaphors thinking is perceiving, thinking is moving and thinking is object manipulation as resources in verbally and performatively apprehending the past. After critically discussing previous research on these metaphors, the chapter outlines key aspects of performance poetry and a method for analysing metaphorical gestures in the genre. The case studies bring these elements together in an investigation of multimodal means for creating the self in performance poetry.
