Post COVID-19 Food Insecurity Discussions on Campus
摘要
Food insecurity is increasingly recognized as a critical issue within the framework of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in educational and community settings. Discussions around food insecurity reveal disparities that disproportionately affect marginalized groups, including low-income students, racial and ethnic minorities, and first-generation college students. These populations often face systemic barriers that limit their access to nutritious food, exacerbating health disparities and hindering academic success. Integrating food security into DEI initiatives highlights the need for holistic approaches that address these inequities. Promoting equitable access to resources, culturally relevant food options, and supportive services fosters an inclusive environment where all individuals can thrive. By prioritizing food security in DEI discussions, institutions of higher education can work toward creating a more just and equitable society for all.
