Cervicitis
摘要
Cervicitis is defined as inflammation of the cervix, induced by various pathogens, including Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, trichomonads, fungi, herpes viruses, and human papillomavirus (HPV). Symptoms may present as discharge, bleeding, and pelvic pain: However, in some cases, the condition remains asymptomatic, which facilitates its transmission. Gynecological examinations and microbiological tests are utilized to identify the pathogens responsible for cervicitis. Potential complications encompass ascending infections, including salpingitis and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), which may result in infertility. Additionally, the pathogens can be transmitted during pregnancy and birth, causing severe infections in newborns. Treatment is depending on the isolated microorganism. Additionally, it is recommended that patients receive education, that their partners undergo treatment, and that the use of condoms be encouraged.
