Pubic Lice (Phthirus pubis)
摘要
Phthirus pubis, commonly known as pubic lice, are parasitic insects that predominantly infest the pubic hair region. They are transmitted through close physical contact, especially during sexual intercourse. The ova measure approximately 1.0–1.6 mm in diameter, with each louse capable of laying up to five eggs daily. Common symptoms include intense itching and scratching, particularly at night. Additionally, pubic lice can cause blue-red spots (maculae coeruleae) and may lead to secondary bacterial infections. Diagnosis is based on the identification of lice, nits, and associated skin changes. Various medications are utilized in treatment regimens; however, pregnant women should avoid using pyrethrum solutions. Maintaining good personal hygiene and avoiding close contact with affected individuals are recommended as preventive measures. While intimate shaving may decrease the risk of infestation, it cannot guarantee complete prevention.
