Environmental Communication and Climate Action

The final chapter deals with another area of information and communication for sustainable development called environmental communication. It was introduced as a graduate course jointly by the School of Environmental Science and Management and the Institute of Development Communication in Los Baños in the early 1990s. Environmental communication is taught differently here and is, at times, referred to as the Makiling School of Environmental Communication. This narrative provides the context of its development, shares its backstories, unfolds its theoretical framework and lists lessons learned based on field practice.
