Artificial Intelligence in Higher Educational Practice. Perspectives of Teacher and Students
摘要
Artificial intelligence, with its innovative technologies and flexible learning strategies, enhances academic writing by providing dynamic and interactive learning environments as well as personalized educational journeys. The objective of this study was to explore the perceptions of last semester students regarding the use of AI in the writing of undergraduate thesis, using a case study design in the Province of Santa Elena. 55 university students from 13 different majors from the last semester of study participated in the only public educational institution in the province of Santa Elena, Ecuador. An electronic survey was used through Google Forms to obtain information about the students’ attitudes and experiences towards the use of artificial intelligence tools in writing their final year projects. Positive findings were indicated in students’ writing skills, self-efficacy, and understanding of academic integrity. However, it is also concluded that there is concern among the respondents about future negative impacts on critical thinking and bibliographic analysis when they carry out their academic work due to the facilities provided by AI. The present research highlights an enormous concern about the use of AI in the investigative processes of Ecuadorian students.
