The Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) is an early intervention that uses a naturalistic developmental behavioral approach to target early emerging difficulties of young children with autism spectrum disorder across multiple domains. In this chapter, we review the ESDM’s theoretical foundations, treatment practices, implementation procedures, empirical support, as well as current and future research directions.
