Early intensive behavioral intervention (EIBI) is a comprehensive treatment package that has more than 40 years of research to support its effectiveness in individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). With a plethora of research demonstrating its efficacy, EIBI has also been clinically implemented in individuals diagnosed with ASD. The objectives of this chapter are to: (a) provide an overview of EIBI, (b) provide information about the research on EIBI, (c) define the characteristics of EIBI, (d) describe the factors contributing to the success of EIBI in individuals, (e) assess how outcomes are measured, (f) discuss barriers to receiving EIBI, (g) provide recommendations to clinicians, and (h) make recommendations for future research.
