Crops-Specificity of Nanofertilizers

Sustainable agriculture is the key concept in the present agricultural scenario. The application of nanofertilizers is one of the sustainable agricultural practices now-a-days. The excessive use of fertilizers pollutes the environment, lowers soil quality and leaves residues on the crop produce. In comparison with conventional fertilizers, nanofertilizers are said to be sustainable in improving quality and quantity of crop production by minimizing nutrient loss and enhancing soil fertility in diverse crops. Moreover, the effect of a specific nanofertilizer on various crops is unique. Hence synthesis should be in line with the nutrient needs of the specific crop. However, providing personalized nanofertilizer requires a rigorous study on their varied requirements and the responses shown by the plants. Customized application of nanofertilizers is quite important for the growth and for better produce of the crop. Because each plant has unique nutritional requirements based on factors such as species, soil type, climate conditions, kind of crop produce (yield) and stage of growth. This paper reviews the effects of various kinds of nanofertilizers on several crops.
