Clinical, Imaging, and Histological Findings in Tumoral Lesions of the Nail and Periungual Region

Accurate diagnosis of tumoral lesions in the nail and periungual region requires a nuanced understanding of advanced imaging techniques. This chapter explores the essential roles of magnetic resonance imaging with surface coil, computed tomography, and ultrasonography in identifying and assessing these complex lesions. Each imaging modality offers unique benefits: MRI provides superior soft tissue contrast, CT delivers detailed images of bone structures, and USG allows for dynamic, real-time evaluation of lesions with more resolution. By examining these imaging methods, this chapter aims to equip clinicians with the knowledge needed to effectively diagnose and manage tumoral conditions in the nail and periungual regions, leading to better patient care and outcomes.
