The main reason behind the differences between the tradition about the poetic tradition legal revelation and covenant near the Waters of Meriba and the prose story about legal revelation and covenant at Mt. Sinai is the transition from ancient oral poetry to the appearance of prose writing in the Northern Kingdom of Israel.
