Bolivia is undergoing significant social and economic changes, driven by strong economic growth and political transformations. As consumer expectations worldwide shift towards environmentally and socially responsible practices, the importance of managing sustainable supply chains has become evident, and Bolivia is no stranger to this trend. This chapter explores Bolivian firms’ challenges and opportunities in achieving sustainable supply chains by providing valuable insights for CSR experts. In particular, it highlights the need for proactive measures to overcome the complexities posed by social and political instability that influence current supply chains. Additionally, we propose that Bolivian firms can enhance contributions to sustainable development by aligning CSR practices with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Notably, the study focuses on a mix of firms, analyzing the challenges and opportunities firms face in achieving SDGs. Our findings reveal that achieving SDGs in Bolivia is in the early stages, mainly due to high political instability and a significant informal economy. Specifically, our results indicate that Bolivian firms primarily focus on SDGs related to health, education, poverty reduction, economic growth, innovation, and environmental preservation. However, limitations exist in their ability to achieve a broader range of SDGs through their current CSR practices. By integrating these perspectives, this chapter provides CSR experts with comprehensive insights into the challenges and opportunities in achieving global sustainable supply chains in developing countries like Bolivia. It highlights the need for proactive measures to overcome the complexities posed by social and political instability. Additionally, aligning CSR practices with the SDGs can enhance contributions to sustainable development. The findings underscore the importance of continuous improvement and strategic actions for Bolivian firms to foster sustainable practices in their supply chains and contribute to broader development goals.
