A Multi−Criteria Decision−Making Ranking Based on Overburden Dump Slope Geometrical Parameters Using Topsis and Promethee II Methods
摘要
Stability of overburden dump slope is a crucial issue in the mining industries. Stability of overburden dump slope depends on the geometrical and geotechnical parameters of the overburden dump slope. In the proposed work, ranking of the geometrical parameters are assessed based on the stability of overburden dump slope. Multi−criteria Decision−Making Techniques (MCDM) are implemented to evaluate the ranking of the geotechnical attributes. Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) and Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluation (PROMETHEE) are the methods of MCDM considered in this proposed work. PROMETHEE methods again have subdivisions as PROMETHEE−I and PROMETHEE−II. Geotechnical attributes responsible for the stability of slope are identified from the literature and through interview of experts from mining and geotechnical industries. Geometrical attributes are the number of benches, height and width of bench, overall angle of the slope, and average angle of slope of the bench. Decision matrix of the TOPSIS and PROMITHEE−II consists of seven numbers of cases. Proposed work has worked out the mathematical modeling based on the extensively used methods of MCDM, i.e., TOPSIS and PROMITHEE−II. The successful application of the TOPSIS and PROMETHEE−II methods in selecting the moisture content for further assessment of the factor of safety of an overburden dump slope marks a significant milestone. This represents the first time these methods have been effectively utilized in this particular context. From this study, it is proposed that instead of assessment of the factor of safety at optimum moisture content, the geotechnical properties of overburden dump slope can be assessed by varying the moisture content and then the mathematical modeling can be done by application of TOPSIS and PROMITHEE−II methods of MCDM. The MCDM methods of TOPSIS and PROMETHEE−II are evaluated the best and worst alternatives based on the ranking. Ranks of alternatives obtained from TOPSIS and PROMITHEE−II are same. By utilizing TOPSIS and PROMETHEE−II, the best alternatives that correspond to higher stability of the overburden dump slope are determined.
