Cross-Cultural Communication in CSR Reporting: Challenges and Strategies for Translation

Cross-cultural communication is important for global companies to effectively implement corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, which helps improve organizational efficiency and relationships with stakeholders. As the focus of professional academic researchers in recent years seems to be focused on the strategic importance and impact of CSR, they are increasingly paying attention to the reporting and dissemination of CSR projects from a cross-cultural communication perspective. This short article highlights the importance of cross-cultural communication in globalized CSR reporting and the reasons for this research direction. By examining the impact of cultural knowledge by considering CSR decision-making in China, a country often cited as having a language barrier, this article builds a case showing how globalization and cultural diversity influence corporate practices and citizen engagement. By combining research findings from relevant literature, professional perspectives, and real CSR projects, this study systematically describes the translation challenges and strategies of CSR reporting in cross-cultural contexts. Focusing on Chinese language and culture, this short article sheds light on various cultural differences and provides CSR professionals with practical ideas for dealing with language and cultural barriers. It suggests avenues for the future development of CSR communication based on new theories and supported by technology.
