Economic Growth and Unemployment: An Empirical Validation of Okun’s Law in Jordan
摘要
This study examines the relationship between unemployment and in economic growth Jordan by analyzing time series data from 1993 to 2021, and tests the validity of the Law of Okun in this context. To test this relationship, an autoregressive distributed lag model was used. The results highlight that there is a long-term negative relation between gross domestic product (GDP) and unemployment rate. Therefore, this study confirms the existence of a significant relationship between economic growth and unemployment in Jordan, thereby supporting the applicability of the Law of Okun. In light of these results, it is recommended that the government take steps to reduce unemployment to stimulate economic growth.
