In certain historical moments, specific technological-scientific innovations have brought about important linguistic turning points in the sphere of art. Reciprocally, certain progressive leaps in engineering and technology have been generated out of the utopias of artists. The objective of this essay is to bring to light the role played by Italian artists during the second half of the twentieth century as agents of innovation who anticipated, experimented with, and promoted the development of technological-cultural artifacts, but also encouraged interdisciplinary approaches. This essay will analyze two particularly emblematic cases which explore the relationship between performing arts and moving images: the theatrical group Tam Teatromusica and the artist Giacomo Verde.
