Handsewn vs. Stapled Ileocolic Anastomosis in Crohn’s Disease
摘要
There is continuous debate on the most appropriate anastomotic technique which ideally should both optimize postoperative outcomes and minimize the risk of disease recurrence. This trial compared stapled side-to-side anastomosis and end-to-end handsewn anastomosis and tested the hypothesis that side-to-side anastomosis would be associated with longer time to recurrence given the larger anastomosis diameter, a theory which was popular at the time of trial design. While unable to complete its planned accrual the trial did not indicate any differences.
