Patients with lipohyperplasia dolorosa, often presenting with “heavy legs,” frequently first consult vein specialists, general practitioners, or dermatologists. Women go for gynecological examinations for other reasons. The author of this chapter, a practicing gynecologist, observed a prevalence of 10.6% (86 patients with lipedema out of 811 examinations). Therefore, it is necessary in gynecological practice to have awareness of this painful, congenital fat distribution disorder in women.
