Modelling of Gas Condensate Evaporation During Blowouts at Shallow Wells

An advanced notions about the mechanisms and factors determining the formation of a gas condensate (GC) spill from a shallow underwater blowout are revealed. The spatial and temporal scales of the area of increased gas contamination development for the typical flow rates of underwater wells are determined. It is essential for determining the danger zone where OSR activities are dangerous or even impossible. The influence of various factors on the size of the zone of intense evaporation of gas condensate during the gushing of a shallow well is analyzed. It was found that the size of the area of intense evaporation of the gas–liquid plume on the sea surface, at low values of wind speed and currents, depend on the flow rate of the well, the gas factor and the fractional composition of the petroleum product. Calculations were carried out using the SPILLMOD model and the model of the evolution of a characteristic Lagrangian element in the spill area.
