Conversion from Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass to Sleeve Gastrectomy
摘要
Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) is one of the most common bariatric procedures performed. Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (SG) became a popular procedure for morbid obesity after the five international consensus summits. Weight loss issues (either too much weight or too little weight loss) or weight regain after initial successful weight loss are a few of the negative aspects that can affect patients after undergoing bariatric surgery. After RYGB, other serious problems like dumping syndrome or postprandial hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia can appear and affect RYGB patients. Hence, the procedure of RYGB has not been considered as non-reversal, but a laparoscopic conversion of RYGB to SG can be an option. Moreover, this conversion can also be considered as the first step of the DS procedure, leaving the patients in better conditions.
