Vehicular Metaverse (VM) is a concept that merges the immersive experiences of extended reality (XR) with the functionalities of autonomous vehicles (AVs) and intelligent transportation systems. This study aims to identify and map the existing literature on this topic. Five bibliographic databases – Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE Xplore, ACM Digital Library, and Wiley – were systematically searched. The initial search yielded 609 articles. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, the review process identified 65 relevant studies. These studies were analyzed to understand the current research landscape, key themes, and potential future directions within the Vehicular Metaverse. The findings of this review will provide valuable insights for researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers interested in the intersection of XR, AVs, and the future of transportation.
