Daron Acemoglu (1967–)

Daron Acemoglu is a living giant in economics who has made vast contributions to the profession throughout his career, earning him a share of the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2024. His output of books, papers, theories and ideas has been prolific, covering a wide range of fields, from political economy and labour economics to economic growth, environmental economics, network theory and many others. He has advanced our knowledge, shifted paradigms, and influenced both academia and practical policymaking worldwide. This short chapter summarises his life, achievements and academic work.
