Edwin Kuh (1925–1986) made significant contributions to the econometric analysis of the determinants of investment expenditures by manufacturing firms, man-hour productivity changes over business cycles and macro-econometric modelling. His work in econometric theory included investigations into model reliability and regression diagnostics. Yet he was not one to be content with work in academia: Kuh had a presence as well in the political sphere, championing affirmative action, advising presidential candidates Robert Kennedy and George McGovern on economic policy, and acting as a consultant to the governments of China, Greece and Costa Rica.
