Extending WSN Lifetime with Cluster Head Election

Several problems with wireless sensor networks exist now, including, energy efficiency (WSN). Since the sensor networks are battery-powered, they expire after a certain amount of time. Therefore, improving data dissipation in an energy-efficient manner will continue to be difficult in order to prolong the lifespan of sensor devices. The life duration of WSNs could be improved or extended using the clustering method, which has already been proven. In the clustering model, the cluster head selection (CH) in each cluster is considered as the efficient method for energy-efficient routing, which lowers transmission delay in WSN. The selection of the best CH that enables prompt network service was the key issue, similarly. Further study has been done so far on finding a solution to this problem that takes various requirements into consideration. This study makes an effort to create an optimal clustering model with the best CH selection by taking four key factors into account: energy, latency, distance, and security. In this article, we examine some basic concepts surrounding the clustering procedure in WSNs and give a comparison survey of several clustering procedures.
