Mapping the Convergence of Social Physics and Geospatial Analysis: A Bibliometric Study

This chapter conducts a bibliometric analysis of the intersection between social physics and geospatial analysis using VOSviewer. The study maps key themes, influential works, and emerging trends by examining co-authorship, co-citation networks, and keyword co-occurrences. Through this analysis, the chapter highlights the evolving integration of geospatial theory in social physics and its implications for future research. This study found that there is still a limited understanding of how spatial data and social physics can inform policy-making and long-term sustainability efforts. Most studies focus on short-term applications, such as crisis management or urban mobility mapping, and traffic prediction, but there is a gap in research that explores how these interdisciplinary insights can support broader goals like climate adaptation, equitable urban development, or resilience planning.
