Estuarine Circulation
摘要
Estuaries are the intersections between rivers and oceans. Before the introduction of roads and rail as the lines of communication, rivers provided the basis for commerce conveyance, explaining why almost all major coastal cities are collocated with estuaries. Given their competing maritime commerce, ecological and recreational utilizations, plus the sanitation requirements for large population centers, the understanding of how estuaries function is an important oceanographic and societal concern.
