Transport Type and Status Classifier for Wheelchair Users

The use of transport can affect the functional status of wheelchair users, so it is crucial to identify what they are exposed to during their travel. In this study, a classifier is presented that determines whether the user is on a rail, wheeled or stationed transport, and whether the transport is in motion, turning or braking. This has been designed with a motion monitoring system and a methodology based on the KNN algorithm, achieving a minimum accuracy of 92% in all cases. This model provides valuable information about the environment in which the wheelchair user is located, which helps specialists to better understand users context and its impact.
