Artificial Intelligence-Based Headache Diagnosis Model for Solving Unmet Medical Needs on Migraine

We looked into the prevalence of headaches caused by inadequately excessive acute medication use (medication-overuse headache, MOH). The extensive headache awareness campaign in Itoigawa City, Japan, was then performed and succeeded. These surveys revealed that doctors could not accurately identify the migraine, and many patients avoided going to the doctor because they were unhappy with the diagnosis and course of treatment. To solve these problems, we noticed the need for an AI-based headache diagnostic model and developed it. It can accurately diagnose headaches with only a medical questionnaire sheet, thereby reducing interview time by a doctor, avoiding misdiagnosis, and potentially simulating the experience of a visit to a specialist at any time from the comfort of one’s home. We highlight the potential of AI as a tool to assist doctors, suggesting its broader applicability in other areas of neurological rehabilitation.
