Eye-Hand Correlation Assessment System Integrated with a Wrist Exoskeleton

After a stroke, many people frequently struggle with hand-eye coordination, leading to decreased perceptual accuracy and manipulation dexterity. These impairments can greatly affect their overall quality of life, even creating dependence on others. This study presents an eye-hand coordination assessment system for evaluating the correlation between hand movements and eye gaze. Additionally, a wrist exoskeleton is integrated into this system to provide support to the user’s wrist while executing the task. The system incorporates a haptic device, an eye tracker, and a wrist exoskeleton developed by the research team, actuated by shape memory alloy actuators. During the pattern-following test with the haptic device offered by the user interface, the wrist exoskeleton is activated when the user deviates from the pattern, correcting their trajectory.
