Corticomuscular Coherence Changes Induced by Computerized Posturography Training in Individuals with TBI

This study investigates the impact of computerized biofeedback-based balance intervention on corticomuscular coherence (CMC) in traumatic brain injury patients. Thirteen participants were randomized into control and intervention groups. EEG and EMG data were collected during postural tasks on a balance platform. The CMC was computed between the EEG channel ‘Cz’ and EMG channels Tibialis Anterior and Gastrocnemius in alpha, beta, and low-gamma frequency bands. Results showed a marginally significant increase in the beta-band CMC in the intervention group compared to controls. A strong positive correlation was found between beta-band CMC changes and Timed Up-and-Go test performance.
