摘要

This work reviews the insights observed in various studies where a virtual reality (VR) cycling platform has been applied. It was assessed its effects on usability aspects, such as presence, motivation and satisfaction with the platform, as well as functional aspects, such as the improvement of gait function and knee and hip joint range of motion (ROM). The VR cycling platform combines immersive VR environments with real-time biofeedback to enhance patient engagement and therapy effectiveness. Initial results from pilot studies indicate significant improvements in motivation, adherence to therapy. In terms of motor function improvement, effects equivalent to conventional therapy are obtained in the short term. This review generates a complete vision on the scope of this novel approach, as well as contributing to the growing field of VR-based rehabilitation.
