The objectives of the commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the cathodic protection system are that the: (1) Cathodic protection system functions continuously in accordance with the requirements of the design and installation; and (2) Hull, internal surfaces (ballast tanks), and appendages remain satisfactorily protected from corrosion over the life of the system.
