The objectives of the commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the cathodic protection system are: (1) The cathodic protection system functions continuously in accordance with the requirements of the design and installation; and (2) The ship’s hull, internal surface (ballast tanks), and appendages remain satisfactorily protected from corrosion over the life of the system.
