Integrating IoT and DLT to Enhance Patient Wait Time Traceability in Radiotherapy Oncology
摘要
Efficient patient management is critical in radiotherapy oncology, where prolonged wait times can increase patient anxiety and adversely affect their treatment experience. This paper presents an innovative approach integrating Internet of Things (IoT) technology with Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) to enhance the traceability of patient wait times in the Radiotherapy Oncology Unit at the Hospital of Jaén. A network of IoT sensors deployed throughout the department tracks patient movements and interactions in real-time. This data is securely transmitted and stored on a private DLT, ensuring accurate and immutable records. The system aims to streamline patient flows, reduce wait times, and improve overall patient satisfaction. Blockchain technology further enhances data transparency and security, providing a robust framework for patient data management. This approach not only addresses current challenges in patient management but also demonstrates the potential of integrating advanced technologies in healthcare to enhance operational efficiency and patient care outcomes.
