The Future of Trials
摘要
The increasing complexity of surgical research provides new and exciting challenges to be overcome in the design of future trials. The aim of this chapter is to provide a bird’s-eye view of the emerging trends in orthopedic surgical trials with the aid of a handful of examples. These trends include the recognition of the importance of pragmatic trial design and harnessing the use of prospectively collected registry data and international research networks. Moreover, multicenter trials generating statistically robust and generalizable trial data and artificial intelligence-based (AI) tools promise a potential new frontier in orthopedic and sports medicine trials.
