Long Walk to Democracy: Constitut(ionalis)ing Sovereign Responsibility

  • Jürgen Schraten

摘要

The chapter discusses the necessity to establish a societal ban as a form of taking “sovereign responsibility” for the purpose of developing a democratic society. The argument is based on an analysis of the competing worldviews of the South and the West, which both rest on the idea of possibly limitless individual freedom. This commonality is seen as the hidden problem of their conflict, i.e. the ability to develop a proposal for a meaningful society for an increasingly diverse multitude of individuals.
