Architectures to Revitalize Fragile Heritage

This chapter identifies the architectural strategies currently implemented to revitalize fragile heritage. Some paradigmatic experiences are recalled and discussed in relation to the impacts they brought on local communities and the theoretical positions embedded in them. The first paragraph focuses on the work of singular architectural offices, drawing on the role of the profession in driving regeneration processes and leveraging the activation of new social and cultural interaction and production cycles. The second paragraph selects three completed to showcase three possible tectonic approaches for regenerating fragile heritage. The third paragraph retraces the milestones of the rural revitalization strategy, positioning it in the trajectory of the recent rural-oriented policies.
