The Village as a Cultural Palimpsest
摘要
This chapter draws the focus to the case study of this research: a rural settlement in the Fujian Province. Its main characteristics are reported with an extensive selection of pictures and interpretative drawings. With the support of photos, the graphic apparatus builds a critical understanding of the site, intended as an architectural unit made of inseparable elements. To complement this subjective but accurate understanding of the village, there is a paragraph documenting the ongoing reparation works on one of the fifteen ancestral halls, emphasizing the strong interference between technological aspects, traditional wisdom, and their cultural significance to the community.
