Designing an IC consists of many steps that become more complex as the physical synthesis approaches the final layout. In the case of ReBO, IC design requires additional details and steps that need to be carefully done. This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of IC design with ReBO. It explains theoretically how ReBO offers obfuscation. The previous countermeasure techniques, especially Logic Locking, are not entirely effective as many are vulnerable to attacks. Thus, we discuss the weaknesses of these countermeasures and how ReBO overcomes them. Therefore, comparing LL with ReBO is also an important part of this chapter. Furthermore, this chapter discusses many points, such as why custom CAD tools are needed and what are the security concerns at the end-user stage. Finally, it describes the security strengths of ReBO against supply chain threats.
