Dental caries is one of the most prevalent diseases worldwide accounting for the major cause of tooth loss. The bacterial metabolism of sugars causes demineralisation by acids, which leads to the breakdown of enamel and dentine, resulting in the invasion of the pulp by bacteria. This chapter briefly deals with histopathologic features of enamel, dentine and tooth root surface caries.
