“Dysphagia” is a term derived from Greek and is composed of fàghein, “to eat,” and the prefix dis-, which indicates a disorder. In short, the word “dysphagia” means “eating disorder.” In clinical practice, disorders in this area have certain characteristics and consequently more complex definitions.
