Introduction

This chapter starts with an introduction to Google Earth and assesses its value for investigating landscapes since it was launched in 2005. This is followed by a discussion of previous work on the relationships between rocks and landscapes and a listing of relevant UNESCO World Heritage Sites, American National Parks and geosites.
