Investigation of the Mechanical Properties of Polymer Interfaces in Fused Filament Fabrication Under Uniaxial Tensile Testing
摘要
The fused filament fabrication (FFF) process is a well-established technique in 3D printing. This method results in a characteristic mesostructure, with visible lines and gaps, contributing to the anisotropic mechanical behaviour of FFF-produced structures. This study investigates the temperature-dependent influence of mesostructure interfaces on the mechanical properties of FFF printed Polyamide 6 using uniaxial tensile tests. Custom tensile samples were produced at three different chamber temperatures to alter the temperature history of the polymer interfaces and subjected to uniaxial tensile tests. The results showed that thin-walled samples could be reliably manufactured, exhibiting reproducible mechanical properties. Higher chamber temperatures during sample production were shown to have a significant influence on the mechanical behaviour.
