Teachers as Beacons in the Storm During the COVID-19 Pandemic

This chapter discusses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on education and how this crisis has forced educators and students worldwide to adapt to new ways of teaching and learning. It examines the unprecedented nature of this global education emergency and highlights significant opportunities and challenges. It points to the changing perspectives of digital learning and the evolving roles of teachers and students in this new educational paradigm for classroom interaction in the context of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Digital interaction competence, also known as Digital Classroom Interactional Competence (e-CIC), is presented as the topic of the study and a crucial skill for future teaching scenarios.
