Acute and chronic rhinosinusitis, if left untreated, can lead to complications that can be life-threatening on rare occasions. Due to the close anatomical relationship between the orbital cavity and the paranasal sinuses, orbital complications are the most common ones. The orbital complications of rhinosinusitis have been classified by Chandler et al. Pott’s puffy tumour is not an actual tumour, but osteomyelitis of the frontal bone associated with subperiosteal abscess causing swelling and oedema over the forehead and scalp. Intracranial complications occur either due to direct extension or venous drainage. These complications include meningitis, epidural, subdural, brain abscess, and dural venous sinus thrombosis. Cavernous sinus thrombosis is a rare but life-threatening complication of sinusitis.
