摘要

The labyrinth, located within the pneumatized petrous bone, houses the end organs of hearing and balance. Inflammation of the labyrinth, labyrinthitis, typically presents with vestibular and auditory symptoms. Vestibular symptoms include vertigo with spinning sensation, nausea, and vomiting, while auditory symptoms include hearing loss, tinnitus, and aural fullness. Viral and bacterial infections can lead to labyrinthitis, but autoimmune involvement is also possible. Audiologic and vestibular evaluations are mandatory for diagnosis. Laboratory tests are not diagnostic. Radiologic evaluation, including computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, may aid in the management of labyrinthitis. Treatment depends on the etiology.
