Simultaneous Deformity Correction and Ankle Arthrodiatasis Technique in a Patient with Severe Cardiovascular Pathology
摘要
We present the case of single-stage treatment of a patient with a deformity of the distal third of the left lower leg, ankle joint stiffness, and severe concomitant cardiovascular pathology. Gradual deformity correction was performed using an orthopedic hexapod Ortho-SUV Frame (OSF). The range of motion (ROM) in the ankle joint was restored with an additional hinge module. The deformity correction period was 39 days; the fixation period was 216 days. Active movement in the ankle joint was restored within 108 days. This clinical example shows the unique possibilities of external fixation for those cases where the use of internal fixation is impossible or impractical.
