Lapidus Fusion with External Fixation
摘要
Many patients with severe bunions wish or need to maintain walking during the post-operative period and resist or can not undergo a cast and/or crutches. Thus, external fixation for a Lapidus arthrodesis allows for immediate post-operative weight bearing. Presented is a case of a 35 year old female with a painful bunion and hypermobility of the first ray who underwent Lapidus and bunion repair with external fixation. External fixation allows for the immediate weight bearing in a surgical shoe and provides stable fixation until osseous union is achieved.
